Position Scope:
The CCA is responsible to and works under the direction of the LPN or RN in providing care for the resident(s) which includes meeting their physical, social, and psychological needs. Maintains confidentiality and respects the residents right to privacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintains and promotes health and safety standards and procedures according to Wynn Park Villa guidelines and resident care standards to a level consistent with recognized provincial standards, including ethical guidelines.
Promotes and maintains good working relationships and communications within the facility, with other health care program personnel, with residents and their families and with the general public.
Participates in activities related to the provision of care for the residents by performing duties including but not limited to:
- Assisting in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating resident care;
- Observing any unusual reactions, symptoms and incidents that may indicate changes in a resident’s condition and reporting such to his/her supervisor;
- Recording appropriate information in the 24-Hour Report, Resident flow sheet and progress notes on Civica (Momentum);
- Performs palliative and post-mortem care;
- Maintaining and assisting with the activities of daily living according to resident’s capabilities, including personal care related to hygiene, elimination and activities of daily living;
- Recognizing the individuality of residents by involving them in decisions related to their care;
- Turns and positions residents, uses mechanical lifts, as per facility policy at all times;
- Performing treatments as designated under the direction of the supervisor;
- Prepares residents for meals, assist them in taking nourishment at meal-times, and between meals, recording input and output as needed.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Graduate of a provincially approved CCA program and/or nursing experience with willingness to obtain CCA designation within 3 years through Recognized Prior Learning (RPL) program and/or a RN or LPN student
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification
- Reliable with good attendance record
- Respectful and hardworking team player with professional and courteous manner
- Experience working in a Long-Term Care or Home Care Setting an asset
- Clear Criminal Record Abstract and Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months
Shift Availability:
- 12 Hour Shifts (Pre-booked and On-Call)
- Days, Nights and Weekends
